Transaksi Saham Sehari Rp 5,7 Triliun, Investor Tenang

Batam:

Bahkan, penanam modal siap menghadapi perkembangan terkini, termasuk suhu politik menjelang Pemilihan Umum 2009. Buktinya, sampai sekarang investor masih tenang-tenang saja.

Untuk diketahui, BEI adalah penggabungan Bursa Efek Jakarta (BEJ) dan Bursa Efek Surabaya (BES). Kedua pasar saham itu digabungkan sejak 30 November 2007.(ANS/ANTARA)

Indonesia Will Purposes Cut Tax on Deviden

Indonesia proposes to cut tax rate on dividends,
and 16,8% millionares in Indonesia

JAKARTA, June 24 (Reuters) -
www.reuters.com

JAKARTA, June 24 (Reuters) - Indonesia plans to lower the tax rate on dividends to 15 percent from 20 percent in an effort to improve the investment climate and encourage the development of financial markets, the tax chief said on Tuesday.

The government is keen to develop the country's young financial market by improving regulations and providing tax incentives for people still wary of investing in the stock market.

"We want to attract more people to invest and not only put their money in banks ... The substance of the new tax bill is to improve our investment climate," Darmin Nasution said.

"The discussion is whether a tax rate of 15 percent would provide a sufficient incentive."

The government is hoping to draw more people to put their funds in the market by cutting the tax rate on dividends which currently is the same as that on bank interest.

The plan is one of a string of measures in a new tax law being drafted by Indonesia aimed at tackling widespread tax evasion and providing tax incentives to investors in Southeast Asia's biggest economy.

Indonesia's parliament is expected to pass the tax bill in the third quarter. The bill also proposes to cut income tax levels for individuals and corporations in a bid to attract investors to open businesses.

Many investors, however, still cite corruption, red tape and an unpredictable legal system as deterrents to investing in Southeast Asia's biggest economy.

Mean while, 16,8% Indonesia new millionaires increases this years...

www.globes.co.il

The World Wealth Report defines a millionaire as a person with at least $1 million in liquid assets, excluding capital invested in assets and after deducting liabilities. The average wealth of the millionaires worldwide is $4 million.

A comparison with the increase of millionaires in other emerging markets shows that Israel is well below the average. The number of Indian millionaires rose by 22.7% compared with the previous survey, due in great part to the 11.8% annual growth rate by the Bombay Stock Exchange. China had the second fastest rate of growth in millionaires, with a 20.3% increase, followed by Brazil with 19.1%, South Korea - 18.9%, and Indonesia - 16.8%.

IPO Adaro - Coal Mining in Indonesia

Coal firm Adaro's IPO swamped by international investors

The Jakarta Post, Jakarta

Shares offered by PT Adaro Energy, the country's second-biggest coal producer, in a book building process that ran from May 26 to June 5 were oversubscribed by 6.57 times, with 81.3 percent of the investment coming from overseas.

"The strong enthusiasm shown by various groups of investor candidates indicates strong confidence in the performance and potential of Adaro," Houston Jusuf, managing director of Adaro's lead underwriter PT Danatama Makmur, said in a statement released Sunday.

Adaro is expecting to receive a statement legitimizing the Initial Public Offering from Capital Market & Financial Institution Supervisory Agency on June 20.

The shares, priced at Rp 1,100 (11 US cents) each, are scheduled to go on sale from June 24-28, and will be listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in early July.

Based on the final offering price, the total amount of proceeds will reach Rp 12.3 trillion ($1.31 billion), or 34.83 percent of the total number of shares owned by the company.

"This will be the largest Initial Public Offering in Indonesia's capital market," company president director Boy Garibaldi Thohir said.

The majority of the proceeds will be used to purchase indirect ownership of 33 percent of shares in PT Adaro Indonesia, 33 percent in coal infrastructure and logistics firm PT Indonesia Bulk Terminal and 36 percent in coal trader PT Coal Trade.

Adaro will also use some of the proceeds to repay subsidiary debts of $100 million, fund the expansion of its subsidiaries and implement an overall consolidation of its other companies' strategic business units.

Adaro is 36 percent owned by a group of foreign investors, including Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, Farallon Capital, the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation and the Kuok Group.

Teddy P. Rachmat, one of Indonesia's wealthiest businessmen, and Saratoga Capital, each own 32 percent.

Adaro's total coal reserves is estimated to be 928 tons, and its coal production capacity stands at 40 million tons per year, although the company plans to achieve 80 million tons per year within the next five years.

Qatar Telecom Raises INDOSAT Share Holders

Qatar Telecom Raises INDOSAT Share Holder

Qtel in largest telecom deal in the Mideast
www.gulftimes.com

IN WHAT is described as the “largest telecom deal ever in the Middle East”, Qtel has picked up a 40.8% stake in PT Indosat, Indonesia’s second largest operator, for QR6.4bn. Qtel, which previously controlled 25% of Indosat, is now its largest stakeholder.

Qtel had acquired the stake from Asia Mobile Holding (AMH), a subsidiary it jointly holds with Singapore Technologies Telemedia. Qtel has a 25% stake in AMH. Qtel’s footprint now covers some 16 countries with a customer base of 44mn. Qtel is already set to enter the ‘elite club of the world’s top 20 telecom companies’ by 2020.

PT Indosat is Indonesia’s second largest telecom operator with some 27mn customers and a market share of 27% and its one-year EBITDA (earnings before interest tax depreciation & amortisation) up to March was about $950mn.

Indonesia, the fourth largest country worldwide, has a population of over 250mn. There are currently 97mn mobile customers in Indonesia with a penetration of 37%, making the country one of the top three growth markets in the world.

Qtel’s agreement to acquire a controlling stake in PT Indosat announced in Jakarta yesterday valued the company at QR15.4bn. PT Indosat is already a highly profitable company and in 2007 it had revenues worth QR6.5bn, EBITDA of QR3.4bn and a net profit of QR800mn.

Qtel Group chairman Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohamed bin Saud al-Thani said that Qtel was committed to investing in Indonesia.
“Qtel will give its full support to PT Indosat’s multi billion dollar investment programme in infrastructure,” he said. “We have received a very warm welcome from the Indonesian government and its people and we look forward to working together to ensure future success,” he said.

Sheikh Abdullah called it “an excellent deal” for Qtel shareholders. Qtel International chairman Sheikh Mohamed bin Suhaim al-Thani said that Qtel International had been the key to the success of the group’s expansion. “Without the right talent and focus we could not have achieved this. We have taken the approach to promote and hire the best talent we can find rather than to rely on external resources.”

Qtel Group chief executive officer Nasser Marafih said that PT Indosat, like Qtel, was an integrated operator offering all types of telecom services including mobile, the Internet, data and fixed line services. PT Indosat has 27mn customers.

“We believe there will be many synergies and benefits for the whole group including our operation in Qatar,” Marafih said.

Qtel sources said the company’s agreement to acquire a controlling stake in PT Indosat valued the company at QR15.4bn.
“Qtel shareholders should be smiling today as this price looks very good and should create at least QR3bn in value for Qtel shareholders,” a source told Gulf Times.
“Last time round many people questioned whether Qtel had paid too much on Wataniya deal in Kuwait. However, now that the details of the deal are better understood and Wataniya’s results continue to grow, this is no longer a question.

“Many independent analysts value the stock at Indonesian Rupiah 8,000 to 10,000. Based on these valuations the acquisition of PT Indosat will have created significant additional value for Qtel shareholders.”

Recent prices paid by Middle Eastern operators and others have been seen as very high. Zain paid over $6bn for the third licence in Saudi Arabia, a market that has reached 100% penetration. Saudi Telecom paid close to $900mn for a 26% stake in the third Kuwaiti licence. Vodafone has paid $2.1bn for the second licence in Qatar.

“In light of this pricing scale, the QR6.3bn paid by us for a controlling 40.8% stake in PT Indosat looks very attractive,” the Qtel source said. “Because PT Indosat operates in a market of over 250mn people with 27mn customers and already makes about $1bn in EBITDA, the deal positions as one of the best in emerging markets,” the source added.

Qtel yesterday said that as a result of the recently announced agreement to acquire a controlling stake in PT Indosat, the planned right’s issue for its shares looked even more attractive. Shareholders should be keen not to miss their opportunity to take up their rights and get more shares at attractive price.

Qtel has recently launched a rights issue to raise $1.6bn more capital from shareholders, part of the proceeds of which are expected to be used to fund this transaction. Stockholders who owned shares (as on May 28) have the right to acquire one additional share for every three owned at a discounted price of QR160 per share. Shareholders can subscribe until June 19. “We expect the rights offering to be oversubscribed,” Qtel said. “This should be no surprise given the fact that various analysts have reported that Qtel is undervalued by 40% to 60%, pre-PT Indosat deal. This deal makes us even more attractive.”

Indonesia's Lippo and Niaga banks merge

Indonesia's Lippo and Niaga banks, majority owned by the Malaysian government, merged Monday to meet Jakarta's competition rules and create the country's fifth largest lender, a spokesman said.

The banks which are majority owned by the Malaysian government's investment arm, Khazanah Nasional Bhd., announced the merger at a ceremony in Jakarta witnessed by Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Najib Tun Razak.

The merger is in line with Indonesia's single-presence policy, which says that a party cannot own a controlling stake in more than one bank.

Trading in the two banks was suspended on the Indonesian Stock Exchange on Friday ahead of the announcement.

Malaysian state investment vehicle Khazanah Nasional Bhd. indirectly owns 93 percent of Lippo and has an indirect 64-percent share in Niaga via its unit Bumiputra Commerce Holdings Bhd.
